When you book you will receive a booking confirmation, closer to the time your ticket will be sent through showing your table number and seat.

How many tickets can I register for?
There is a limit of 5 tickets per registration.

What is the definition of a Community Discounted ticket?
Subsidised tickets will be $100 and available to:
Members of the Victorian Multicultural Commission’s:
Regional Advisory Councils
Multicultural Youth Network
Multifaith Advisory Group
People representing a small community / grass-roots organisation (those with $1 million annual turnover or less AND 20 paid full-time equivalent (FTE) staff or less)


What is the definition of General Admission ticket?
Tickets are open to the general public, businesses or private organisations, local councils, federal or state government departments or agencies.

Why does the Commission offer community discounted tickets?
The Multicultural gala Dinner, as the official launch of Cultural Diversity Week, aims to bring Victorians together to celebrate our diversity.
In support and recognition of Victoria's multicultural communities, the Victorian Multicultural Commission is committed to giving community organisations and groups access to discounted tickets so they can participate in this wonderful event and network with guests including government representatives, sponsors and other community organisations.
This approach also ensures that our guests include people from many cultural backgrounds as a true reflection of our multicultural state.


How do I update the details of my booking, including guest names and dietary requirements?
You are able to do this yourself by clicking the link in your confirmation email. No changes will be accepted after 26 February 2023.

Can I cancel or transfer my tickets?

VMC will only provide a refund or exchange a ticket if the event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated.
You may update and change the details of the attendees in your order until 26 February, beyond which no changes will be accepted.


Can I bring my children or guests under the age of 18?
No. Persons under 18 years of age will not be permitted on the premises.

How do I contact the event organiser?

How do I know where I will be sitting?
VMC will determine the seating plan and do our best to accomodate the preferences you outlined in the registration form.

What is the dress code?
The dress code is formal or cultural dress.

How do I get to the Venue?

Travelling by public transport:
Tram
Tram routes 96, 109 and 12 (Stop 12A Casino/MCEC0 will all take you to the Clarendon Street entrance. Otherwise, tram routes 48 and 70 (Stop D5) take you to Flinders Street. From there, it's just a short walk up Clarendon Stree until you reach us.
Train

Our closest station is Southern Cross. Once you exit the station, you can catch the 96, 109 or 12 tram routes and arrive at MCEC in just a few stops.
Taxi or Rideshare
Ask your driver to drop you off at Convention Centre Place, next to Pan Pacific Melbourne and DFO South Wharf. We have two nearby taxi ranks - Crown, Clarendon Street and DFO, Convention Centre Place.


Is there parking available?
There is a Wilson carpark underneath the Exhibition Centre. We recommend booking in advance for a better rate. Please be aware there may be other events on at MCEC and the carpark may be busy and/or full.

Will there be a prayer room?
Yes there will be a prayer room. Please see event staff at the venue for more information.

What accessibility options are there?
The Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre is a fully accessible venue. If you need assistance, please see one of the VMC or MCEC staff and they will direct you accordingly.

Assisted hearing devices
All rooms within MCEC are equipped with a hearing assistance system. Visitors can loan a lanyard style infrared receiver. This will work directly with hearing aids fitted with a T switch or can be fitted with standard headphones. Please contact vmcrsvp@jtproductionmanagement.com to advise if you will be using these systems so we can arrange it for you in advance.

Recording, photography and social media
No professional photography or videography is permitted at any time during the dinner without prior consent from the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC).
Photography and videography for social media purposes such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook are encouraged provided that performance material is not shared in full and the artist or speaker is referenced. Guests are encouraged to 'like' and post images to the VMC's social media accounts which will be provided on the night.
The VMC will have professional photographers and videographers recording the event and it is inevitable that guests will be captured in the background. A condition of entry includes guests granting permission to the VMC and the Victorian Government to use any photos in which they may appear.

Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before purchasing a ticket. By purchasing a ticket from the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

These Terms and Conditions relate both to the sale of tickets and attendance at events. These Terms and Conditions apply to both the original purchaser and any subsequent ticketholders (“you”).

 

Variation to Terms and Conditions

The VMC may vary these Terms and Conditions at any time by updating them. Any variations will only apply to ticket purchases made after these Terms and Conditions have been updated.

 

Refunds, exchanges and replacements

  1. The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) does not offer refunds or exchanges as a result of a change in your personal circumstances or due to external factors such as, for example, adverse weather. VMC will only provide a refund or exchange a ticket if an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated (and you cannot or do not wish to attend the rescheduled or relocated event), or to the extent otherwise required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law). If an event is cancelled, you do not need to apply for a refund as we will automatically attempt to process a refund back to the original payment method used to purchase the ticket. Otherwise, you must apply for a refund by the earlier of: (a) 4 weeks after notification of the reschedule or relocation; or (b) 72 hours prior to the event. If you do not request a refund by that date, you will have agreed to the reschedule or relocation and will not be entitled to claim a refund;

  2. If the event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated , all liability is limited to the amount for which the ticket was purchased (including any fees or charges unless otherwise notified at time of purchase). Proof of purchase may be required for any refund or exchange. Unless required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law), VMC will not be liable for any other losses incurred by you as a result of the cancellation, rescheduling or relocation of an event, including any travel and accommodation expenses;

  3. VMC will only replace lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets if the authenticity of the ticket can be verified, including proof of purchase, and if you give reasonable notice before the event. VMC may charge a reasonable fee for the replacement of tickets.

  4. You should carefully consider the refund and cancellation policies of travel, accommodation and other goods or service providers when making arrangements for attendance at an event. You may also wish to consider taking out a relevant insurance policy to cover for any losses in the event of cancellation, rescheduling or relocation;

Variations to performances or events

  1. VMC reserves the right to add, withdraw, reschedule or substitute artists, performers, speakers and/or vary advertised programs, prices, venues, seating arrangements (including ticket categories) and audience capacity.

Conditions of entry

Admission to the event is subject to VMC's terms.

  1. You may be denied entry into, or removed from, an event where VMC has reasonable grounds to do so, including if you breach these Terms and Conditions, or you are intoxicated, under the influence of illicit drugs, inappropriately attired or adversely affecting the enjoyment of the event by others.

  2. If you arrive late, you may not be admitted until a suitable break in the event.

  3. You may be required to submit to a search of your person and/or possessions before entering the event.

  4. By attending the event, you and each attendee in your group acknowledge and agree that you each may be filmed and/or recorded and you each give permission to VMC to use your image, likeness and voice obtained at the event in all media throughout the world for any purpose and without any compensation.

  5. You agree to comply with all Government directions, orders and regulations relevant to attending live events, which may be in place at the time of the event.

  6. You are responsible for knowing the contact details of all attendees in your group. In the event you are contacted directly by the Government, including the Department of Health for the purposes of contact tracing, you must: (a) make the contact details of your group available to the Government (if you have the consent of each group member to do so); or (b) contact each member of your group, and request that they provide their contact details to the Government directly.

  7. When attending the event, you and each attendee in your group agree to assume all risks associated with COVID-19 or other such communicable diseases.

Authenticity and validity of tickets

  1. Entry to an event may be refused if the authenticity or validity of a ticket is questionable, including because the ticket has been damaged or defaced in any way, or has not been purchased from Humanitix or other authorised points of sale.

Resale of tickets & scalping

  1. Tickets may not, without the prior written consent of VMC, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via on-line auction or other unauthorised resale sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services. If a ticket is sold or used in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without a refund and the ticketholder of the ticket may be refused admission

SCALPING WARNING: The resale of tickets in certain circumstances is governed by ticket sales legislation and may attract criminal penalties.

Limitations on number of tickets purchased

  1. When purchasing tickets for a particular event you may be limited to a specified number of tickets. If you exceed the stated ticket limit, you may have any or all of your orders and tickets cancelled without notice by VMC at its discretion. This includes orders associated with the same name, e-mail address, billing address, credit card number or other information. Ticket limits apply to ensure fair access to tickets for fans, and as a measure to minimise ticket scalping.

System Errors

  1. While VMC takes all reasonable care to ensure that tickets are correctly priced and only available for sale when intended, sometimes errors may occur. VMC may cancel an order made as a result of any such error, although in the case of a pricing error VMC will endeavour to contact you to give you the option of purchasing the ticket at the correct price.

 

Customer Errors

  1. If an error on your behalf results in VMC reprocessing the ticket transaction at your request, Humanitix may charge to you the actual costs incurred in reprocessing the ticket transaction, including any chargeback or postage fees charged to Humanitix by a third party.

Your Privacy
We protect the privacy of your personal information. We endorse fair information handling practices and use of information in compliance with our obligations under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).
Personal information will be used only for the intended purpose. Where the intention includes confidentiality, information will be treated as such unless otherwise required by law.
